“When we trust that we are the ocean, we are not afraid of the waves.”
― Tara Brach

Janna Sayfie, LMSW, is a licensed therapist in New York City working with adults, young adults, and children struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and trauma.

Janna takes a strengths based approach and is committed to meeting her clients where they are in order to provide a productive, connected, and goal-oriented therapy experience. She pulls from a variety of modalities to integratively and holistically help each client meet their needs, including CBT, DBT, and mindfulness based work. She operates from an evidence based, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive framework.

Prior to working in private practice, Janna worked with clients from immigrant backgrounds at Brooklyn Defenders Services. She later focused on the treatment of substance use and trauma related disorders, and specialized in treating anxiety and depression in adults, and with families.

Janna received her undergraduate degree in English and Business from The University of Texas at Austin, where her English major built upon her passion for understanding personalities, behaviors, relationships, and systems. She subsequently obtained her Master’s of Social Work from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work with a focus on clinical treatment.

Janna has always been passionate about the collective issues we face as a society, how they impact individual experiences from a mental health framework. She fosters a collaborative and nonjudgmental therapeutic alliance, and uses her innate warmth to create an environment of safety that helps each of her clients recognize themselves as their own greatest agent of change.
